I have been appointed a leader, now what?

The transition into a first leadership role is one of the most significant professional shifts most people will make, and the research on what makes it successful is worth understanding.

The evidence consistently shows that the skills most valued in individual contributors, technical expertise and specialist knowledge, are not the primary drivers of leadership effectiveness. The transition requires developing genuinely different capabilities.
